Bristol Rovers' Announcement about a UWE Stadium

The announcement today that Bristol Rovers plan to build a new stadium on the UWE campus, confirms what HorfieldROSE has been saying for years, which is that plans for the commercial redevelopment of the Memorial Ground were impractical, poorly conceived and completely unsuitable for this area.
The full details of the plans for the existing site are not yet available and HorfieldROSE represents hundreds of local residents so we will canvas opinions from our members over the coming weeks to form our official position on the various aspects of these new plans.
The HorfieldROSE mandate from local residents was to oppose the 'monolithic' stadium development at the Memorial Ground and, following planning approval, to ensure the impact on the surrounding residential areas during the stadium development build process and after is kept to the absolute minimum.
This mandate will become invalidate should Bristol Rovers move to a new stadium, but we wish to assure our members we will listen to what they have to say about any proposed development at the Memorial Ground and consider the future of HorfieldROSE based on their views.
The Memorial Ground in North Bristol was built in 1921 for the Bristol Rugby Club, and dedicated to those members of the club that fell in the First World War, and concerns have already been expressed that the history of the Ground has been forgotten during the latest considerations for the development of the site.
Best Wishes for the future to all local residents,
HorfieldROSE
UPDATE: At the present time no spokesperson from HorfieldROSE has spoken to the press, and we will not do so until such time as the details of the proposed Sainsbury's development are in the public domain. Any statements by residents to the press are entirely their own opinions and do not represent the position of HorfieldROSE.
